How Did The Disciples Carry Out The Great Commission?

Again, the Great Commission is Matthew 28, Disciple All The Nations. And Mark 16 Preach the every single person.

Now, what’s interesting is if you look right at the end of Mark 16 when Jesus gives what we call the Great Commission. It says “Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.”

Or if you look at Acts chapter 4. They heal a paralyzed dude who had been paralyzed for decades. The dude gets up and walks. They boldly preach the Gospel.

The religious people arrest them and say they have to quit preaching the Gospel…and they’re like “not gonna happen”

Then they prayed and ask God for more boldness to preach his word and it says “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” Acts 4:31

Now, imagine this. You’re Jesus. You just died on the cross, you rose from the dead and you have 40 days to hang out with the disciples and teach them about the Kingdom. You’re about to go back up and sit on the throne and you ask yourself “What’s the last thing I should say before I go?” Jesus decided to say what we call the Great Commission.

In Mark he says you need to go preach the Gospel to everyone.

In Matthew he said disciple all the nations by teaching them to obey everything I commanded you.

So why is the Great Commission important?

This is the thing Jesus commanded us to do right before he left.

I think it’s important because if we love God we will obey what he says.
